A guy is offering me A 1.3 liter motor frome a 99 geo metro. I believe it is carburated. I have heard that it will bolt up to the sammy mounts and transmition. Does any know what i would have to do to make it work. even maby with the stock samurai intake?
If its not broken, break it

I have a 99 Metro 1.3 in my sammy. Block is a bolt in...head is an injected 4-valve setup. I ran the Metro block, with the Sammy head...runs like a raped ape! I eventually intend to get the 4 valve head back on...either with the factory injection, or with a set of motorcycle carbs( I work at a Honda dealer!! ;D)

I suspect the CR is all wrong. Has the Metro block got different pistons? Or the valves have hit the pistons?

I clearance checked everything with some clay before I bolted the 2 valve head on. It does seem like it's got more compression than stock.
The Metro, and Samurai use the same head gasket.
I would have replied sooner....but just found the post again.t

is your sammy carbed or injected?, did you have to change any of the wiring or what? i might do this swap and i need to know what all is involved, did your metro engine have a distributor, and ive heard that something with the thermostat on the metro engines doesnt work in the samurai's because of clearance issues, can ya help me out?

I think you just use the sammy head on the metro block with the sammy intake, and it should bolt up.

if u can get the computer and wiring and an electric fuel pump from NAPA run a return line to the tank and use the fuel injection. the head gasket will cost more than the pump and fuel line. you my even call sky and see if the offer the easy wiring harnes. fuel injetion will increase power, quiker throtal response, and the motor will rap out fast there is nothing good about a carb when you compare it to fuel injection. you my say a carb is easier but u never have to mess with the fuel injection. buy a book about fuel injection and then u will hate carbs.

I have the FSM for the 99 Metro, and I have done several injection swaps in th past, but there are things I can't get around with the factory ecu. There is a VSS in the metro trans that wont work in the sammy trans. Without that it won't rev past about 3000 rpm. Also the late model ignition is a distrubutorless system, so it relies completely on the ecu(and the VSS). Tha means I can't run the head with carbs, until I can afford one of the ricer ignition boxes that works with a crank trigger system. The hot setup would be a Megasquirt box...it will run the ignition, and injection...but I can't afford that right now either!
The block is a bolt in, grab a head gasket, and throw the sammy head on the bottom end, and run the crap outta' it!! That's what I am doing right now. I am not sure if the result is an "interference" motor.....things are pretty close in there. Feels like compression is up from stock, and it's a runner!
If I get the money to get the 4valve head back on, I will keep you updated, but I wouldn't count on it.....I've got a line on a cheap Mazda RX7 :o

MegaSquirt is only about $150
and the MSII module isn't too
much more, that's what you will

i did not realize that the swift motor was a viscus sensor that really sucks. the mass air sensors alow the motor to get better fuel eco. and more power. my ford has a viscus and the HO 5.0 and 351 lightings have mass airflow and they have about 35 hp more than the viscus sensor setup and get alot better fuel eco.

good luck on what ever u decide
